You can't use the LT1 bellhousing for a few reasons:
1. the input shaft on an LS1 style T56 is 3/8" longer than a T56 from an LT1. The input shaft would be inside your crank with an LT1 bellhousing.
2. The LS1 uses a hydraulic throw out bearing, and the LT1 uses a hydraulicly actuated clutch fork, and bellhousings are setup accordingly.
The tunnel on the A body is too small for a T56, hence the tunnel cutting. There is no way it will fit in there as is. Once the new tunnel is fabbed and welded in, you will still need a shifter hole.
I Pm'd tyler what I got... But I dont have it yet the guy went on a cruise so I guess I still got time to back out... Its out of a 2000 ss camaro. But he did offer me his other ls1 complete for $1k, but it has a knock... So if I go the ls1 route I wont have to worry about adapters just cutting and rewelding.
But I guess it would be better, I mean easier and cheaper to go with the 93-97 trans setup
