I have habit of building cars in my head... much less expensive than the metal version!

Anyway, during one of these odysseys, I thought of a way to make an AWD vehicle and I was curious as to peoples thoughts on the feasibility of the build.

After looking around on the web, I wonder if it would not be possible to utilize the front suspension from a Chevy Trailblazer on a mid to full sized car (Chevy Malibu, Ford Fairlane, AMC Rebel, Dodge Coronet/Charger, etc). For an Auto version you could simply use the Trailblazer's trans and transfer case, but a manual version might take a bit more research.

Any thoughts?

Also, couldn't the same front suspension, minus the steering, be used for the rear suspension? I know a different differential would be needed, but other cars have utilized the FWD front suspension as the rear suspension (the Fiero comes to mind).

Have to admit, it would be pretty cool. A nice AMC Rebel (say '68) with an AWD chassis, throw in a few creature comforts, and voila!

Check out the newest edition of Hot Rod Magazine. Some company is building an AWD 67 GTO. The engine is a mid mounted big block Chevy with twin turbos and they are shooting for 2000hp. A San Diego Chargers linebacker is having it built. Estimated 2 years build time. Unreal!!

In the projects section there is a new camaro with trailblazer awd...... I talked to him at SEMA so you definitely could do it. Nelson super cars is doing the goat btw if you want to search it
