Lenie,

I just want to take a second to step back and take my hat off to you again. The car is turning out amazingly, but what I respect more is that you are sticking to your plan and executing to the plan without waiver. I find myself having a hard time doing that just because I want to get the car out on the road and moving.

You're sticking to your guns and building your car exactly how you envisioned it. Great job man...loving the build!

Dave

Forgelines via PTS

I've now had the wheels to two different shops and they can't get the Michelin sports 345/30/19's on the wheels, keep in mind, the last shop puts tires on custom 3 piece wheels quite often for one of our car builders on this site. They now want to ship them to one of their other shops to use a different machine and tell me it won't be a problem. I watched 3 men and a mule standing on them yesterday trying to get the tire on w/no success and man was my stomach in knots.... still is. Anyone else run into this problem before? Forgeline said add more lube but they added a ton of lube and even heated the tires.....anyone. Man...I had no idea

Lenie,
That is VERY strange, I had a similar issue with my last set of Forgelines too. The 20x11.5 ZX3P's running a Pirelli 345/25R20 took the guys at Discount Tire in East Bremerton about 45 minutes to get on. I thought is was just because the tire was a 25 series, but maybe it was something else? My stomach was also in knots the entire time!

I don't know what they're using but they weren't able to get them on so they took them to a different shop in Renton so they could use a different machine. It's been over a week now and I haven't seen them. Yes, reverse mount and yes my stomach's in knots as the way things have been going lately, I know the wheels will not be returned in the same shape as they were delivered.

Well I met with the tire shop yesterday. Not only could they not get the 345's on the rear wheels but they did quite a bit of damage to both the black hoops finish and the polished spoke finishes. They were really easy to deal w/as they volunteered to ship the wheels and the michelin sports back to Forgeline for installation and to pay for Forgeline to re finish the wheels. Steve and Mark have been really good to deal w/through all this also and now are expecting delivery of the wheels to repair the damages. Now I just have to sit and wait again.

My stomach turned over when you said they damaged them. Atleast they're going to make it right. Still sorry to hear it though. Stay strong bud!

Did the mount them from the back side ?

It looks like you have a soft lip rim. Which has to be mounted from the back side only. And you can only take them off from the back side.
