Somewhere I got the bright idea to hire some one different then a high school student to sweep the floors. I went to what we have here called BARC (Bakersfield Association for Retarded Citizens). Through that program we found a 58 year old cleaning machine named DJ. That guy can clean like no other we have ever had. Our Roll up doors are spotless. The area around the dumpster is spotless. I have him deburr cut parts for our chassis production line. Plus he keeps the Hauler clean on the inside. Just because he has a dedicated position and the time and the patience to be able to clean like he does, my shop looks 10 times cleaner then with the high school student after school or spare time when the guys in the shop do their part.

He is not the fastest guy on the planet, but he probably has the best attitude or anybody in the shop.

I have had him scrapping old Dynamat out from the floor of a car we are supposed to mini tub in today. He came in with a smile ready to get that old Dynamat out of the car.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of something like that! definatly worth a try.
I gave up on hiring high school kids, (boy, what I would have done for an opportunity to work in a hot rod shop when I was their age) Their lack of motivation and addiction to texting was pretty depressing actually. I'm over twice their age and 25 lbs overweight but I would run circles around them. - but that subject can be a whole new thread!

Totally not politically correct and I'm sorry but it is true.

I would love to go back to some of the High School slackers that thought having to work here was so bad and tell they got out worked but a Retard.

Like I said totally in bad taste but very true.

I have a very funny Facebook story with one of my High school shop kids. He called in sick and then one of his friends tagged him in a picture at Magic Mountain that day. So I went back and looked at other pics on his account and every time he had a day off for some reason was a lie and it was all discovered on Facebook. When I confronted him he lied further. He decided to quit when I said I was going to fire him.......When I told him how I knew he was speechless. OH Kids today.

I wouldn't. I still owe you 10 bucks. I owed you 50 bucks but you did not show up for the GW charity dinner that was 20 bucks a head and you had a reservation for 2. So now I only owe you 10 bucks.

That is really awesome Rodger. That's about all you can say to that. Also a great reminder to how lucky we really are.

I've forgotten about 50 bucks like 6 times already but you keep reminding me. You must not have a clear conscience.

Seriously tho, very cool of you... your political incorrectness notwithstanding.
