Hello, I'm building my first car into a road race/ autocross car. It's a 1973 Ford Maverick. I bought it my sophmore year in high school, that was 6-7 years back. At this point in time, the rust repair is near completion, and the car is completely stripped, and gutted. & I just recently started the cockpit, equipped with Coleman reverse mount hanging pedal assembly, Kirkey intermediate aluminum seat, collapse able steering column etc. I've installed Maier racing subframe connectors, and x-brace so far, for the chassis. Plans for a cage, custom front susp..probably adjustable double-a frame coil over, & for the rear a 3-link coil over . I'll hopefully be doing some of the work, at the shop after hours for a few weeks. Mike Maier -my boss, Is a wealth of knowledge, with loads of experience, I learn more and more about geometry, theory and straight up better fabrication skills, every single day as I apprentice Mike, on the chassis building level.. Now, I'll show you how I've been applying All of my new knowledge to my Maverick.
Here are some photos:
When I bought it..2005 or 06??

Lowered, Interior, steel wheels, beauty rings, tucked and painted bumpers.

Postin' it at a car show.

Senior rides , In the year book. 2 Arroyo High School Car Show trophies. 1st best student car. 1st best under construction. Super juiced.

Then It was hit in the school parking lot , Insurance paid for a new cream pearl paint job which was slick!!!!!!!!!!! threw on some A.R. Daisy mags and raised white letters, and a set of lakewood slapper bars, I was set!!

That paint job did not last too long, the many gallons on Bondo started bubbling and cracking all over .. I wanted to learn sheet metal repair, so i stripped it down! yikes!

I had to cut this section out, It was rotten out.. I acquired a solid replacement piece, I have to find pics of all that still....

More rust repar. Both pass. and dr. upper hinge sheetmetal was rotten ..

This Car was originally a vinyl "halo" top, which cause a lot of roof and winshield (front and rear) rot.
