I have been very lazy about keeping up to date photos of the Camaro project on my site, or even quality photos at that.
Here is a shot that gives you an idea of the new firewall. I built my own crazy 90 degree kicker for the brake assembly and put the 1988 S-10 manual brake m/c in the cowl with reinforced framing. The wiper motor is a 1985 VW courtesy of a couple of fellows at PT.com that turned me onto the idea. I took it to the next level by adding a steering column from a 1981 Vette (tilt/tele) and cutting it down to fit and run flush with the firewall so I could close the hole up to the minimum. I added a cruise control unit that mounts under the dash and works off the throttle pedal. All this wires straight into the GM column for cruise and wipers. I used the old wiper switch hole on the dash to add a Autometer fuel PRESSURE gauge to keep an eye on the LS1 fuel system at a glance.
The a/c is Vintage air, but I am running the heater and a/c lines well out of view. I built a simple bulkhead in the right front inner fender near the core support to tuck in the heater and a/c line. The other a/c line goes through the frame rail out to the condenser. I have filler panels between the inner fender and core and fender that allows me to hide the over flow bottle, washer bottle, and duct the 4" cold air ram tube into there to suck cold air from behind the headlight and hide the cone filter.
