I'd powder coat the outer part of the housings gloss black, leave the center polished, and paint a red pin stripe on the outer raised edge of the housing!

Back tires on that car are HUGE! I like it!! Agreed...the tail lights don't fit the vibe of the car.

Depends on how close you are and if you plan to run any heat shields. The basic answer is yes - you will see damage from heat. Once the surface temp exceeds the cure temp of the resin in the panel - it will soften and then the resin will begin to boil off leaving dry fabric. If the temp gets to close/high you will set the resin on fire. You'll need to use protective wraps or heat shields of some type.

If the original cure of the panel was at room temp, or cured at high temp, or post cured at high temp will tell you what the temp operating range you should protect th surface from.

they stick out like a sore thump... i prefer the look of the marquez lights myself, not just for finish reasons but they are much more detailed and aesthetically pleasing.

I would go for some anodised black ones myself.

Re the carbon, you should be fine. Consider F1 cars that are made of carbon and the exhaust run through the bodywork.

but worst case, fab up an stainless heat shield?
