After man years of medium dollared German cars (M3, AMG Carrera4) I want to build a Chevelle "Pro Touring". I am seeking info and advice. I have no idea where to start but have come up with so far the car will be a 1967 Chevelle. I want a convertible. I like what the Roadster Shop is building in terms of their IRS front and rear frame set up. The car will be a daily driver so to speak. Send help

welcome, and if your looking to spend more money then said "medium dollared German cars" your headed in the right direction, as the amount of money you want to spend is limited only by your creativity and imagination.. my first 2 suggestion is Bowler Transmissions...and ISIS wiring systems..
Educate yourself thoroughly on the complete process. Specifically the build process from selecting the right shop, right parts, and sorting out the end product. Many, many, many of the projects are never driven around here as they never get to the finish line. Most are either due to the wrong builder or eyes that are much larger than their resources.
Personally, I'd find the best car you can and modify it instead of building from complete scratch.

Also do not underestimate the time and price of what a legit body and paint job will co$t.. it wont be 5k as i have seen others speculate and come up a bit short on funds when they get to this step.
I wonder what the ratio is of of started projects vs completed projects.. 3 in 10 maybe?

Welcome to the site. You , me and a host of others like what the Roadster Shop does. If you want a top notch, A-1 quality built car, you won't go wrong with the Roadster Shop. Guys were mentioning choosing the right shop, there won't be a problem there @ RS. The can even find you that 67 convertible body you want. Again, welcome! Whenever you do get a car and whatever it is, post it up. We love pics.
Can we talk budget? Don't be embarrassed... don't be shy. It helps to steer a project if people kind of have an understanding what you're willing to spend on it.
No point in discussing a rolls royce build if you're only planning to build a chevy II.
We've all been here a while... and we've all done plenty of budget builds and or high dollar builds... You'll find no "judgements" made in this forum. You'll just find good friends and lots of knowledge.

Welcome aboard from another novice. I am 80% done with a 65 Corvette and have a 68 in the planning stages. I use this forum daily for informed opinions, along with LS1 tech, Corvette forum, Chevelle Tech, etc. This hobby is a lot of fun but very expensive.
It is impossible to over-research or over-plan. Research and planning costs nothing. To me it is important to establish a mental image of the car and what you want it to do. This will keep your build true as you research components and options for the car. I often got wrapped up in specific components many very expensive, only to return to the original image of the car for final selection.
