I'm just thinking if you can't even tape it off, how half assed is the whole car. The apple usually doesn't fall far from the tree.

Thanks for the offer Rick.

You've been around the block and know what to look for.

So what's the motor plan if you had to decide today? I know you don't wanna go LS deep in your heart but were considering it...

Todd,

Contact Jay (JAMES113) he's got a line on a very clean car that might work for you.

Took you long enough.

Really depends on the car and what is reusable. It won't be a Nascar setup. ha ha Think budget....

Jeff
It just looks sloppy to me and I agree on the undercarriage. Seems like it's been covered up. Now, I don't expect perfection in this price range but I do want a solid car.

Ever price out a cage install? As far as looking at the body he has plenty of buds up here to take a look. If the body is rust free and the paint is good at that price he is ahead of the game. Lexan is a bonus

Todd,

I'm going to offer a different perspective, one you've probably already considered, but I'm sometimes a master at stating the obvious...

Have you considered that achieving your goal stated above that the 2nd gen platform may not be your best choice, especially given your desired price range? Are you absolutely set on doing this with an older musclecar instead of considering a newer platform? If 'yes' because of wanting to participate in GoodGuys or other similar type events, then I completely understand...

Understand that these thoughts are coming from a second gen lover... But being very honest about the planned use of the car, you could buy an 02-04 Z06 for around your price range and have a heck of a lot better platform from which to build a performance car (if you shop around, you may even find one with track mods, although at likely a little higher price point). I know, it's not a musclecar, and it's not as cool to run fast in a newer car, but unless you are Mark Steilow, or having a car built at one of the high-end builders, you'll likely never get close to the performance with a low-budget / bolt-on second gen.

I've struggled with this same decision: to buy a newer platform and just drive it vs. buying a musclecar and have to keep adding parts to tweak it. It's a decision that I'm still rethinking given my current situation of not having a place to work on the car (your situation is different).

I know it's somewhat sacrilege to suggest the above here on Lat-G, but it really is something to consider...

Good luck either way you go!

Car looks like a real turd Gaetano. I don't have to buy a car today.

Bryan, you bring up a very good point and I haven't ruled it out 100%. I just like muscle cars due to their style and simplicity. I've had a 68, 69, and have really grown to appreciate the 2nd gens.
