Default Landau foam sanding?

Putting landau foam on my Marquez headliner and my door panel, do I need to sand both sides of the landau foam before gluing? Read something once about doing it but it tears up the foam pretty easy and makes thickness pretty inconsistent. Still, doing want it falling down.

Lenie, when I built my door panels I concentrated more on scuffing the panel that the foam would be glued to, but also scuffed the foam as well. Practice on a scrap piece, you will see that there is "grain" to the foam and it will guide you in which direction to scuff the foam successfully without tearing it up. The key, just go slow!!

The landau foam is quite easy to work with. It will allow you to sand the edges to chamfer a 90° corner/edge to a nice rounded corner/edge.

Oh, and yes - you'll be scuffing both sides..... you need have a surface for the adhesive to bite on, on the top surface of the foam that the material you use will be glued to.
