That's not a horrible place to stay. There is a palce across the Street called Tip Top, good place to eat with a good selection of beers. There is also an Italian place beside it that is good, around the corner is Mitchells steakhouse, it is very expensive but very good also. A good area on the weekends is the short north. It is about 3/4 of a mile north on high st. Where you are staying is only about a half a block from high st, the people in the hotel will know what you are talking about if you ask about the short north. I would suggest going upn to the host hotel(Crown Plaza) on fri or sat night, it's its own car show with some of the really nice cars there. They usually have music playing with food and drinks to buy. Hope you have a good time

You have to hit the host hotel ( Crowne Plaza ) on Friday or Saturday evening, it's another show, music, food, and cars.
