Default Windshield hold down straps

This picture got me thinking... How effective are they metal straps?

I don't today with the good adhesvie they are prob.not needed.But 40 years ago with the butel stip they used they were prob.useful.They sure look really cool.

Pro-Jackstand ! I know the FEELING... seen a few back windows pop out on hard launch before... The tabs would be cool on a track car..not as obtrusive..

O those are the tabs I thought they went all the way down the windiw.. Didnt look at the pic fullsize...

they were also helpful in holding the window trim in place as well, or at least keeping it on the car instead of flying off and becoming track debris. I have had that trim pull up at high speeds on my 914 before - with the V8 I would run 165 mph on a track in CA and it pulled the upper trim up and almost off one time. Duct tape worked well to keep it on for the day but doesn't look as cool
