got both sides of the roof/ drip rail off took longer than I thought it would. Got the lead outa the passenger quarter roof joint and continued with the drip rails ... overall a good day. Used the DeWalt and the fiber disc to clean everything down to clean metal.
Cleaned up the passenger side. Passenger drip rail ... this will not buff out! Driver's side .... uggggg! Parting shot .... much better with out rust
get those little retainers out of the headliner headers? I tried to get these out when I was cleaning up the metal on the interior and they would not come .... now with the roof off I can see how they work.
So I took a flat chisel and just popped it with a rubber mallet and they came out the bottom, kool. I know most people will never get this far with their car but that's how to get them out. Luckily the header part is galvanized and just needs cleaning.
There are 8 across the front and 6 in the back! You can see how they force the sides out when they get pushed in, kool!
I want to thank all those that have sent their condolences, I passed them onto my family. Seems friends are planning a motorcycle memorial ride for David through the mountains ... he would have liked that, as he's done it for fallen brothers.
I'm just dillydalleying around tonight .... might patch some of those holes I made in the drip rail.
Great job Micheal, starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. Keep it up
Thank you Al ... sometimes the light gets smaller, is that bad?
Spent some time with the Camaro .... welded up most of the driver's side drip rail channel, that took longer than I thought, might have been easier to shave the drip rails
I wanted to get ready for some epoxy on the roof and b pillar and then noticed the factory black on the underside of the roof ... well time to make a big mess and get all down to metal so that is what I did today.
This was my view for finishing the channel ... shadow grinding?
Underside is all done.... My arms are tired now.
This is how she looks now!
I welded up the holes in the front header panel and dressed them up. and every time hit the topside with the disc all I could smell was mouse pee and rust
I plan to spray epoxy as soon as I get the pass side channel touched up ... and the weather is warmer.
Got some epoxy sprayed Finally, seems like my camaro has been naked for some time ... not any more.
Finish with the POR15 on the front header that was rusted and the rest just cleaned up with the fiber disc .... which was really good. Took most of the day to prep and spray two medium coats but it is done and came out good.
I sprayed the firewall, inside both the side cowls, top and bottom of the roof bows, drip rails, package tray and the back seat area of the quarters.
On to some pictures ... mostly one color now
Just too kool Top bow all better now. Drivers side cowl! The rear header was in better shape than the front. Inside shot of cowl Passenger side cowl all better!
So that is what I did today and now I must study for a Stats 512 test ....
