Default can somebody explain something to me.

ive been talking to some people who SWEAR that its possible for an engine to somehow rotate in the opposite direction... as in after a car stalls, the engine fires from compression and heat, diesels, without the spark, then somehow rotates in the opposite direction... i didnt think this was possible at all, but for whatever reason the argument just wont die... am i just wrong?
