Default 67 Fastback Buy Or Pass Need Help

Hey guys I have a chance to buy a 67 Fastback from someone out in Georgia which I like. I will have someone inspect of course since I am in Chicago. He states that this is a close to rust free LA car and the original owner gave it to his nephew up in Georgia. I was wondering before I spend the $175 to have someone go check it out any ideas or comments just by looking at pics. There is some bracing underneath the car and the owner says he spoke to two mustangs guys out there and they said it was fine just to leave it. The owner has sent any and every pic I have asked of and has no problem what so ever I send someone out there to look at at the car from top to bottom. It does have a blown motor and as it sits is how he got it, here are pics please need your advice and help

pass, it loosk like everything that has been touched needs to be redone. the bracing is ugly and welded poorly. Its hard cutting things off of a uni-body car without damaging the thin "frames"

maybe buy it for $4-$5K

My honest opinion would be to walk away. I have never seen bracing like that on a Mustang. The main thing to look for on these cars is the torsion boxes, they usually go and judging by the bracing they were or are gone. As for the car being mostly original I would have to disagree on that as well. I think if you shopped around a little more you could get something more solid that will cost you less money down the road. Just my.02

I think it would depend on how much he wants for it.

Bad motor, questionable frame work, may have rust in the quarters still makes it a 10-16K car.

If your in for a project this one might be a good candidate at a good price but I'd keep looking.

The bracing makes me uneasy....

Bottom-line is that pix wont tell the entire story..... pay for the first hand inspection...it will be way worth it.

Also depends on price and plan....if the suspension is all going to be redone, then the bracing is going in the trash anyway... but don't tell the guy you are going to throw it away anyway...use it to your advantage..

Pay for the inspection...

I appreciate taking time to help a guy out with your opinion and yea I was going to have someone out in there check it out for me prior to buying and I know the bracing is just weird to me but I will see if he will lower the price and I will be chaning the entire suspension all around
