We discussed all weekend -- having a spare car....

He (Charley) has a Dale Earnhart Cup car... and that would be fun and different... but then I'm thinking either another Mustang (Vintage racer) or maybe a mid year vintage Vette.... for something different.

I'm struggling with "how different" or -- similar....

What I'd really like is to have a vintage Lola etc.

I like this.....

Nice Vette! Need's Hobaugh's flares though!

I'd seriously consider this for the task:
http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...amaro-z28.html
Turnkey reliable 500 hp, dry-sump, 7K redline, 6 spd w/ 3.91 rear end, trans & diff cooling, 1.05 g cornering, 1.5 g braking................dealer service centers everywhere.

It might even have a warranty and you know the engineer!

New cars just aren't fun... they do everything well and are too easy to drive. They've got huge brakes -- they have ABS -- they have - dare I say it - no soul.

You put 590 hp in a 3000# car --- on skinny 245's.... and you have a hoot on your hands!

Thought we were talking backup car!

Having two broken high maintenance vintage cars sitting in the pits would be less fun than lapping in a Prius.........more embarrassing too!

Bet the Z/28 would pass sound even at Laguna.

My primary objective at track days was to get as many laps as I was physically and mentally capable of, what I did it with was secondary it just had to have good brakes, suspension, and be reliable.

This was my best backup bike, it just wouldn't run much over 135 mph, adequate for T-Hill, but not Miller, PIR, etc.:

Way to go Meat Ball!!
That has ring to it. I see a new nickname ahead for you Greg!

Bummer on having your track day cut short. Glad to hear she's all fixed up again!
