Congratulations. You build what looks like a very trackable motor there.

A rheostat is a resistor used to adjust voltage. It does it in a linear, progressive and smooth fashion. Predictable and controllable power delivery is what you have there just like a Rheostat adjusting the speed of an electric motor.

I'm curious to see how you end up mounting the VFN nose. I had one, and decided against using it, simply because I wasn't sure how I wanted to mount it. You are definitely right on the weight though! It weighs nothing, especially compared to the 80 pound original nose!

I agree with the quality, it was a nice piece in my opinion. I've been a bit frustrated with the hood, but since we reinforced it, it's worked ok. I'll be curious to see what you come up with on the mounting of the nose. Certainly I would have liked to shave that weight also!

Greg, I have a VFN Nose on my 72 Bird that we installed back in 1994 or 95.
Im not sure if the mounting tabs on your NEWER built nose are exact to mine. Do you have a pict of the back side of the nose?

And I currently have the nose off of the car (minor turbo and intercooler mods...lol) So when I get back to the garage I can take a few picts of how we attached mine. It might take me a day or two but I figured I would let it be known.
