Default MSD blaster 2 alternative coil?

what is a better looking alternative coil than the old school looking msd blaster2 coil? do MSD do something more 'asetically' pleasing in your engine bay?

We used a MSD Blaster High Vibration Coil. Mostly chose it since it was black.. Found that it fits good in a billet fuel filter bracket. Looks much nicer than their standard chrome bracket. We also painted the MSD box black to help it fit the look better.

Post 76 shows more info on what we did.

Post 116 has some finished engine bay pics.

Best way --- hide it. The one on my '32 Ford is mounted on a bracket off the transmission.

The one in my (since sold) Nomad - was under the dash mounted on a bracket off the steering column -- with a feed thru the firewall.

Many coils DO NOT like to be laid on their sides --- some have oil inside that can leak if you do that. I only use the newer style coils ....

These come in BLACK as well.....

Yep, put it in the glove box or under dash somewhere. Many benefits.

MSD isn't the game in town, especially since they just filed Chapter 11.
Try Mallory etc., lots of good stuff from other manufacturers.

This is a CHAPTER 11 filing - in other words - a REORG - to shed the company of debt (idiots).... and prep for a sale of the assets.

MSD is a huge name in the automotive world... and that name is worth something to someone... not to mention their product offerings.

It's sad that good names like this get hammered by CEO's, CFO's and Boards -- that can't seem to just stick to business, do some basic math... as in -- you can't be that far in debt and make it.

Yes they are. A few would be Accel 380876, 140019, 140009. Mallory 30440, 30441, 30625, 30626, plus they have a new one that looks a bit like the squat MSD one. I'll try to get that for you as well.

Greg I agree, it's sad to see just about any company fall on hard times. But it seems lately they've relied on just that, their name, and not much else. Their quality isn't what it used to be, period. That coupled with more, better competition has obviously had a negative effect on them. Maybe this will be a wake up call and someone can help them move forward from here.

Thanks
