What length coil-over was used on the front of the Ridetech built Goodguys 69 Camaro?

Hopefully Bret will chime in and answer this for me. I've contacted the company and was given the run around about the correct answer to this question

I believe they use a 4 in stroke shock on a stock frt.sub frame.

They used a modified stock frame. It's the exact same setup I have and the coilovers that Speedtech and the original designer of the ATS/Chicane bracket told me it was for a 5.2" stroke shock. I have that length coilover front and rear and the front sits 1" too high with that length stroke shock. I made some mockup struts in place of the coilovers while doing fab work. I have the car set at my desired ride height now. The front mockup struts are 13 5/8" at idle and the rears are made at Ridetech's specs per the installation instructions for the AirBar

When at ride height your lower control arms should be parallel to the ground.

The reason the answer to this has been elusive is because I have not yet decided what the final configuration will be.

To circumvent that situation it might be better for you to tell us what length you need for your car based on the ride height you want and the distance between the shock mounts at that ride height. Then you won't have to rely on any variations in someone elses configuration or information.

The process is easy:

1. remove the shock or spring
2. with a floor jack set the car at your intended ride height
3. measure the distance between the shock mounts

We will have a shock that is really close to what you need. If we know what drivetrain we can also calculate and approximate spring rate at that height.

My car is running a traditional SBC with aluminum heads and intake along with a 4L60E transmission.

For the front suspension, I have the Speedtech ATS/Chicane upper coilover mounts for a stock subframe. I have the single adjustable 5.2" stroke coilovers with 700# 10" springs with spring drop cups. The reason I went with the 10" spring and the drop cup was that the upper coilover was too close to the upper mount to my liking, so I hence the drop cups.

The rear I'm running a factory 12 bolt with the Airbar and 5.2" stroke single adjustable coilovers and 200# 12" springs. I have the lower shock mount moved to the lowest two mounting holes on the bracket. That forces the lower shock mount to hang below the mount, but it gives me my desired ride height. I originally mounted it up one position, but the car sat entirely too high.

The front mockup strut is 13 5/8" in length at my desired ride height and the rear is what the Airbar instructions said to make it at, which I believe was around 14 1/4". You can see my desired ride height mocked up in the pictures.

If that is your chosen ride height (which there is nothing wrong with) the front is fine. The 5.2 stroke shock compresses at 11.2, so you'll have approx 4.5" of compression travel at the wheel. More than enough.
On the rear, you'll have about 2.75" of compression travel.

If you want the car lower, go to the 4.1 shock.
