Logically you'd think that dropping 1" on the seat spring on the coilovers translates to 1" drop on the total ride hight, but is there more to this than simple 1:1 ? I know that the geometry of the control arms may come into play here as in one inch on the seat spring may equal to more like 1.5" on the total ride height. For example, when my full suspension mountain bike shock compresses .5 an inch, the rear triangle goes up more than .5"...
If the coilover in inboard of the lbj then yes it will be more than 1". You have to be carefull when doing that coilovers as they can run out of suspension travel. Better to have adjustable shock mounts.

Thanks for the feed back and that makes sense. Socks travel is very important but I 'm going to ASSume that the manufacturer like QA-1 has accounted for socks travel even when the spring seat is all the way at the bottom no?
yes, but normally you cant unload a coil over that far and still properly work. You need to either have a lower mounting point, or use a shorter body shock if you have enough travel available.

This helps a lot, thanks for the input. I have half and inch left on the seat spring to the bottom of my Qa-1 so I'll give that a try. I don't want to spend more money on spindles so hopefully, this 1/2" will be enough. Worst case, Global West has a newer lower control arm that lowers the car an inch lower than their older design.
