Sure did. Hate bothering him though haha. Figure he'll see it here and can respond if he'd like, it's not his problem!

It doesn't 'run' bad once it's going it's solid. Never had it stall or anything but again, my first SBC, first carb, first classic car etc. I'm used to BMW race cars, not this haha!

Great advice too, I've never had to deal with timing and what not. I'll look into all of that! Thanks for the info!

Entire books have been written about Holley carb tuning, far too much detail for this forum. However, if you go to the Holley web site they have an series of videos on the various internal systems and how to tune them. Just FYI, 34-36 total timing is just about right for a SBC.

sounds like your in need of a good tuner. Im willing to bet the car went to a different climate and or altitude so things maybe are off.

Carb engines will smell like fuel, its what they do.

Big time, from CA to GA. Haha! Going to have a buddy bring his timing light over to check timing. But based on the sticker in the picture above I think there is a little to much timing in it, which could cause my hot start issue.

Thanks guys! Sounds like it should be an easy fix with a knowledgeable tuner.

Anyone know any good tuners in the Atlanta area? All the guys/shops I know are less carb/SBC/BBC and more 'new school' haha.

Check the starter too.. IMOHO that starter always cranked real slow but the car always started so i left it all in. I honestly don't remember what jets are in it and if there is a power valve or not ( i don't run power valves) YES i always smelled the exhaust and some fuel... I'm immune to it ..AND YES IT SHOULD BE TUNED FOR YOUR CONDITIONS

I'll try to get someone that knows about carbs, and read a lot about them, over to the house to check it out! Going to also toss a timing light on it and maybe dial it back a touch.
