Default T56 experts come in here and helppp meeee

Okay so I just got done swapping a LT1 style t56 into my Monte, everything went fine and dandy. Used a pull clutch and conversion flywheel for my SBC.

My dad has an LT1 T56 to put behind his big block. The part that I am confused with is the hydraulic ls1 style throwout bearing that he wants to use. He already has a push style McLeod street twin and the flywheel from McLeod that is supposed to work with his big block.

What needs to be done to get the hydraulic tob to work?

Will he have to go with an ls1 input shaft?

He also has a lt1 bell housing that has been cut and welded for use with a hydraulic tob.

Thanks guys.

I believe the input shaft and faceplate are different.

You could swap out both to run a LS bell and hydraulics. He will need a firewall plate and master to go to the release bearing.

The Lt1 front cover won't accept the hydraulic bearing from the LS style T56, because it's not machined to accept the bearing. I considered getting my LT1 front cover machined to accept a hydraulic bearing, but I found a deal on a new LS style front cover, so I bought it, when I was converting my lt1 t56 to an LS style t56. I see no reason why you couldn't change the front cover to an LS style cover, and still run your current input shaft, although I personally haven't tried it. Let us know if you do this, please. I'd like to know if it works on an LT1 T56. That would be pretty trick!
