I am definitely going to have to find some time to sit down and really go through that thread. The molds are astonishing all on their own!
I'll have to forward this onto my dad as well. He used to do a lot of aluminum casting. After he got started on the Dave Gingery books he ended up building a "Gingery" lathe, milling machine (attachment for the drill press), and a lot of one-off parts, particularly for his '60 Beetle (Cal-Looker; the throttle bodies he cast and machined for an SDS EFI setup come to mind).
