IMO you're dead on right. It's the attorney's duty now to prove that the aftermarket chassis (which is technically a vehicle accessory since the vin is on the body and only on the body) crashed in this specific accident, worse than the original chassis. This would require extensive data and information on that specific type of crash. GM kept only what they needed fo safety back then. Good luck.
