Jay,

Good to meet you today! I was able to look over the Camaro, and it looks great! Very nice job. Sorry I won't get to see the T/A, but maybe it will be here for the fall GG.

I hate to admit this, but I didn't realize when we were talking today that the T/A was originally Albert's. Now I understand your 'lighter' comment. I can't wait to see the finished car, looks like it's going to be great (I just re-read this thread for the pictures. ).

See you tomorrow...

Bryan, it was great meeting you as well. Really enjoyed getting to see you run TOW the past couple days. Its an awesome car. Thanks for the comments on the Camaro.

It was fun to compare notes on how to approach the track. 1st gear with a shift to 2nd on the straights made a huge difference.

I sure hope you didn't get too badly rained on. We packed up and headed out just in time as it began to rain as we exited the track.

See you tomorrow.

Jay,

As you know by now, I didn't make it back out to the track today. I discovered a problem with the car after I left yesterday (dead O2 sensor it seems), so I decided to hit the road early this morning to make sure I made it back to Austin in one piece.

Loved the Camaro, and definitely look forward to seeing the T/A once it's done! Perhaps we'll have them both there for the fall event. I'll do some work to both the car AND the driver before then.

Next time you make it to Austin, let me know. We'll go out and eat some REAL BBQ.

Hey Jay. Thanks for the ride yesterday. That 454 is a beast. I look forward to seeing the Firebird next weekend.

Bryan, thats a deal! I appreciate the comments on the Camaro. We are pretty anxious to get the TA. It will definitely be at the fall event. I too will be working on the car AND especially the driver.

Absolutely man! Anytime. I need to get some more seat time to keep up with you. I hope you get the Maverick back on the road soon. That car is a blast to watch on the track and ride in with ya! Unfortunately the TA will not be at this weekends event. A few parts did not make it in time so we could get it transported to us for the event this weekend from Wisconsin. Probably gonna miss it by a couple weeks now. Oh well...we will get it out soon! Definitely this fall!!

BTW, we are planning an auto-x day for us North Texan's soon. There are a few of us in the North Texas Camaro Club that want to go work on our skills and the boys at Equipe Rapide will put on an event for us if we can get enough cars out there and pick a date. We are inviting all cars and makes so no need to be a Camaro guy to participate.

In addition, we are looking to get out to Eagles Canyon soon. Plano Ford is sponsoring a track day there in May and March 29th is an open session on the Eagles Canyon website a group of us are considering.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you the details once we get it all figured out. Hell, if any Lateral-g members in the DFW area are interested, let me know if you want to participate (targeting $100-200 for the registration fee). If we get more cars, a few of us may sponsor the event.

Hope to see you out amongst the cones soon Chris!

Sounds like fun. Count me in. Im trying to get the Mav back on the road by the 2nd weekend of May. I still have to diagnose the problem, collect parts, reset the garage (its a mess after this last thrash) and find time to get some of my honey-do's scratched off the list.

Default Some videos from GoodGuys Texas

It was a great weekend out at Texas Motor Speedway. The weather was a bit of a bummer at times with the rain Saturday and cold arse weather Sunday.

Here is a video of Brian Hobaugh's Camaro:

Bret Voekel driving the 48hr Camaro

Chris Smith running his awesome C10. Best sounding exhaust of the weekend!

Mike Dusold running his twin turboed Camaro. This dude has really improved his driving skills the past year with a bunch of seat time. Last falls Street Machine class winner.

The Jet Hot Nova looked great out on the auto-x.

Kyle Tucker running his 2nd gen hard on the course.

Gary Lackore running his awesome C3 Vette. One of the baddest sounding cars on the course. This car was recently in Popular Hot Rodding. He was top 5 almost the whole weekend.

And finally my 69 Camaro. I finished up 9th in the street machine class.

I really enjoyed meeting lateral-g members. Hope to see more members out at TMS this weekend for the USCA event.

Default TA Update

Well we are not going to get the TA completed in time for the Texas USCA event. It's not for lack of trying. The West Bend Dyno guys have been working their arse's off on the car to get it finished. Hopefully we can get it out to another event soon. I'm trying to talk the wife into Daytona. Brad sent me some pretty cool updates to share.

The splitter was designed by WBD and came out great. Here's a couple pics prior to install and the finished product installed on the car.

We asked for a radiator close out panel and fender braces. The guys at WBD over delivered! They designed a great compliment to the carbon fiber inner fender wells, paying homage to the origins of the car and Albert's work from Carbon Kustoms.

We got the exhaust back from Jet Hot. They ceramic coated it in a high polished finish and it turned out terrific. The car actually fired Monday for the 1st time since being disassembled upon returning to West Bend after SEMA. Hope to have it on the rollers for a tune on Friday.
