guys how much does a set up run?? also can it be used in 12 bolt/10 bolt/ ford nine inch?

The box is about $1200 AFAIK, and you will need front and rear speed signals to feed it then you need to tie into your distributor and injection to signal timing and/or fuel cuts. For a car with factory ABS you can simply use the existing WSS signals; for a retrofit application they can provide magnetic pickups and you can make your own brackets for them and point at the backside of your wheel studs (or bolts for your brakes if you have 2-piece rotors.) All you need is metallic object(s) to pass very close to the pickup to send the signal, then the rest of the setup is taken care of in the software (how many signals per rev, tire diameter, etc.)

They have the complete software manual on their website, good reading to understand how it works-- minmum activation threshold, maximum allowable front to rear difference to allow for turning, launch control, etc. Then there is the actual power limiting functions such as retard timing initially, then randomly cut every Nth injector pulse, etc.

Very cool unit, looked into one many months ago.

I haven`t used it but I did look into it in detail for a customer project years ago and I was impressed. It should be a well proven system by now. I`ve been mentioning it to everyone who orders a Street Comp-AFX package from us with ATS`s aluminum spindles and C5 hub/bearing packs. The wheel speed sensor and wiring is already there so you only need to install pickups for the rear. I`m suprised aftermarket anti lock brakes haven`t taken off either. Mark SC&C

Thanks for the information.

When I read the web site, it loked like it would be an excellent addition to a big horsepower engine. Especially if your not use to driving one, or you would like to teach someone to drive one.

I'm hoping someone who has one will also jump in and give us their experience.

I definitely would like to leave open the possiblity of adding this at a later time.

Anyone have any experience with the Racetronics traction control unit? Is it a "brake-only" type of system (no engine management interface)?

It interfaces with engine management, or in the case of a car running a carb, it will I think it can 'drop' cylinders via spark. I'm assuming by braking you mean using the brakes?!?

The LSX pcm's will do the same exact thing. You can limit torque on shifts as needed to keep from spinning tires into gear. It will also limit power as needed based on wheel spin read from the VSS. So if you have a wheel spin problem, you just program in more torque control untill it stops. Most tunes I make, I remove this for people!

Is this the same idea?? If you have an Ls1, you would already have this.
