Was hoping to be going to Optima in Oregon that weekend

WE are trying the A6 because of the tire temp measurements of the R6's when running Thunderhill.

We ARE not racing.... and I'm certainly no race car driver.... a real race car driver would most certainly generate too much heat... but I don't. I also have a complete set of R6's mounted on another set of wheels -- so if the temps tells us the A6 is getting too hot... a simple switch will be made. WE are doing this based on the science of our own measurements, rather than, what someone told someone else's buddy one time.

The tire pressures I WAS using were near but not close enough... actual measurements of the tire temps and ending pressures etc gave us the info needed to set the tires right. Now - that's the new numbers being used instead of just kinda sorta someone else is using X pressure.

Please hurry! I've had 5 more birthdays since your motor was dyno'd... Remember! Change your oil ANNUALLY if letting a motor sit. And rotate it by hand so that the valve springs aren't taking a set. If you plan to let the motor sit for more than a few months (already past due!) back all the rockers off to allow the springs to be free.

I started in the auto crossing world and changed
over about 12 years ago with Chet's mustang
(My old car) then went to the Pantera

I had custom alignment set the mustang up and
just drove it. Very easy car to run as it would go
anywhere on the track

The Pantera took a little while to dial in and
is not as easy to drive and I am sure could
be better but still not bad for a street car

Isn't that interesting. Most folks would think the Pantera would be easy to drive fast. But I find things often are not what they appear.

I cant think of a better way of spending my 48th bday than wadding up my blue car in turn 3. But seriously, this sounds like a great bday gift to me!!!
Cause I'm hooked, would love to have a cage for the next one though....,

At Sonoma -- there's many more turns than just T3 that can bite a guy. Pete and I have both spun in T7... I leave the paint from the wall on the car as a reminder of how not to go into that turn...

There's the wall on your left at T11 -- pretty high speed and a passing zone for our group -- then the wall on your left at T12 EXIT... it can be good for a scrape... if you're running NASCAR close or just loose it a little... And last time I was there my run group at the time (red) had two cars totaled in two different sessions out of T6 AKA "The Carousel"... one was a modified weird Porsche with a crappy driver (I'd ran with him before and he SUCKED)... and one was a brand spanking new Shelby GT500 that hadn't even gotten his license plate yet!

Show respect - and unlike me - don't think your f'n Parnelli Jones - and you'll L O V E this track... and have a fantastic time.

Sonoma is a very cool, fun & challenging track to drive. Don't drive over your head & it will be a blast.
