Default 69 camaro headlight mounting problem

I am having big headache with my ( all repop parts..) headlight mounting.

As you can see the capsule tension spring dont fit at all. Have i understood something totally wrong here? AIM manual show this should be quite easy..

Left side housing

With the spring

And with headlight capsule and trim ring

What i am doing wrong here?

In the last picture, I think you can use the slot in the chrome retaining ring. I'm not saying that's OEM correct but believe it works. Those ring are somewhat 'flimsy' but I think strong enough to retain the spring. Kind of a PITA to change a bulb as you need to remove the spring to remove the light.

On my car someone improvised and drilled a hole in the bucket, it works and eliminated the need to remove the spring for servicing the light. http://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-R...RhNNzcX-X2.jpg

Your spring is going to pop out if place as soon as you pull on it. I got some needle nose pliers place them right at the bend and beat on the retaining leg of the spring to further bend leg
