Started back on it at 6 a.m. sanding the deck with a 5" DA and 60 grit paper to knock down the surface rust and paint build up, paint was thick in spots so sprayed it with Talstrip paint remover which didn't get it all but improved the patina IMO.

One more light sanding and rinse then run a thread chaser through all the fixturing mount holes and I'm good to go!



Those casters made the table and they appear to be very tight, once thoroughly cleaned and greased it'll need a leash. I'm going to design some sort of stabilising feet for the swivel end to secure and level it. Visualizing a bar with adjustable feet, guide tracks at both ends and a screw jack in the center......open to ideas!

I don't imagine that table flexes much, do all four wheels stay on the floor pretty well? Anyway to put locks on the wheels to keep the table from rolling once in place? And what all are you going to mount on the table permanently, like vises, drill presses, grinders and such?

I dig it, I'd jump on a deal like that in a heartbeat. Great work table.

That is a killer table!! I got one for work from a Sheetmetal shop, just had to haul it off. It's 5'x12' with tongue and groove 2x top with steel corners all around and racks below for flat sheet stock. Just had to cut it down and put casters on it.
For my house I picked up a Wilton vice that the guy was going to scrap because it was seized up. After heating and pulling and such, finally got the rust to break free. A little cleaning and some new jaws, I have an $800 vice for under $100!!

I love other people's junk!! LoL!

I'll most likely leave it clear. I have a vice mounted on another worktop, same goes for sanders and grinder. Not sure on wheel stops yet.

5x12 would be nice........as is I'm a little cramped for space.

Nice Sieg! You're starting to have the same problem we are. You need a bigger garage! The more tools and equipment the easier the job but less space to work! LOL. Great find!

Time to down size the home and up size the shop space.

I want to sell my current home and down size and look for a home with a simple 2 car garage and a nice 4 car shop out in the back. hard part is convincing the "boss" its the right move.
