Failing to see how those two statements are related. Both of those shows were not worth watching for the small snippet of almost fab work that they might show.

This.....times eleventy trillion. Rides was the only show that was truly about the car, even the Shelby one, Carroll was the backstory. Close second right now is How Its Made: Dream Cars.

Tv car shows have gotten away from the cars and focus on the personalities of the crappy hosts and made up drama in the shop. Maybe if they were real actors on a fake car show it would be more interesting.i watch em all regardless just to see whos building what. Kindig builds some bitchin rides

I love Dave's show. I do wish it was a bit more tech. Like that Dodge they built looked to have a Gen 3 Hemi with custom valve covers to make it look like a Gen 1. Very cool, but they barely showed it and I was interested in seeing some detail on that, just because it was that cool.

Problem with Fast N Loud and etcetera is that the shows are very little about the cars or the tech, they are all about phony manufactured drama and self promotion. Just a different spin on the reality show genre. The producers are pandering to the masses and the tech is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator. Some of the cars they build are just junk. It is just dumbfounding to run into someone that says things like "I wish that I could have a car built by them, it would be awesome"... no, it would not.

Part of it for me is that they are local... and some of the locals will spend an hour in line to get an autograph or picture at the local events. Really. But, yes, I will watch it with my 11 year old boy and even he laughs... because he knows better. We see them at a local event sometimes, and just keep on walking. I did go to one of their shows, they had Marines in the parking lot collecting toys. My boy and I bought a toy, dropped it off, talked to one of the Marines, checked out some cars and left.

I like Daves show so far. You can only pack so much into an hour show so you're probably not going to see the nuts and bolts of each build. Sometimes it's hard remembering we are the tiny minority viewers. I like that the overall feel of his show is positive and displays a team strategy.

I stopped watching Fast n Lewd. After being told a $150000 Camaro was built by that staff in 4 weeks, I decided I'd had enough. Richard doesn't love the cars or have any self respect. Dressing like a Steven Tyler stand in and touching your hair while you whore cars out doesn't a real car guy make. I think Aaron is moderately talented and understands the fundamentals of design, but surely isn't a Troy or Chip by any stretch. Americans like rock stars and drama, so they'll tune in for season after season of made up prices and cars without headliners. Real car people can smell a fake from far away.

its entertainment. You just have to recognize that.

Some of the builds they price are embarrassing.
Dale Jr Nomad $75K with a GM crate. While they do a $50K truck with suspension and an LS crate. Now the $150K Sonic Camaro with stock frame , stock interior and butchered firewall. Nice car but could have been done.

Both the shows early on had some great fabrication work going. To me interesting.
Then some ahole producer moved to show more drama. efthem.

Rides was great too but too short for what was going on. I'd love it if it was 2 hours long. The Rad rides and Strope builds by far the best.

I watch most of them for entertainment purposes. Kindig seems to have good taste, but is still on the hot rod/street rod side of things and I get tired of them putting a torq thrust style wheel on every build. They all eventually turn into commercials for products. At least at present, they are commercials for products we all know and support and I am glad to see some of these companies get some recognition on a larger scale. I can't think of how many times I saw those RideTech harnesses on the Fast n Loud episode last night and that ought to help some of these companies move some product and grow our little corner of the car world.
