Hi Matt, Was wondering if you learned anything additional at SEMA for the 69Firebird 3-point belts for a convertible ? if so I still have interest in a deluxe interior set (Blue). Thank You.

Hello, we didn't see anything for the verts.

The problem is the upper mounting point is too low, in a panic or emergency stop, this will cause the belt to pull down very hard on your collare bone, possibly breaking it...

Morris did some R&D on them in a Camaro and it Just wasn't going to be safe or strong enough to do.

If anything does come to market that has been tested safe, I will offer it.

Thanks
Matt

Thanks Matt for the quick response. So the factory offering of a first generation Firebird convertible three point was not safe or let me re-phrase it to not optimized, because it was offered. If it was tested to be safe there is someone out there with a factory installation we should be able to solicit a pattern from, again if it was truly a safe system ? I just do not know so I am open to suggestions and reccomendations. I just want a reliable, user friendly & safe safety belt for my occupants as well as myself. Please keep me/us posted as you learn more.

Yes, the factory system used a similar pick-up point for the upper but it's weak. They don't even believe it to be strong enough and I think there is too much liability to sell them.

Sorry I can't be of more help on this one but when it comes to saftey items like these we only sell tested, DOT approved products.

Thanks
Matt
