Default Tilt wheel question

I have searched the threads and have seen where many people have used later model 70-81 f body tilt wheels to put into early 70-73 f bodies.

My question is, do they have to be F body wheels? I thought I remember reading where Mark Stielow used a mid 80's GM tilt wheel in the Mule, but I could be wrong.

Do any other models fit the early 70 camaro vehicle? I have not dug into mine yet as the car is stripped to the shell on a rotisserie, but I would like to get a tilt wheel. I think I have to change another shaft on it for a later tilt wheel, but I don't have the parts in front of me, so I ma not sure what that is exactly about. Thanks. Eric

I've used tilt columns from 70-up chevy blazers, firebirds, camaro, suburban etc. They just have to be the right length. Even if they were to long I've disassembled them and shortened them if needed on either side of the firewall.

I'd measure how far into the cab your column is and how far out of the firewall yours sticks and try to find any gm column that fits close. I just did a column for my buddy and I'm working on another one for myself as we speak.

What's nice is they're gm,cheap ($65),and parts are always going to be available not like aftermarket columns were you can only get parts directly from them.
