That's actually not uncommon. At our shop, there are anywhere from 80-200 cars on lot at any time. None of those cars are insured by our policy and are instead covered by their owner's policies. This is of course a large, production collision shop. A friend of mine ran a large classic car consignment business for roughly 25 years and always had 300 cars on site. His inventory also was insured by its titled owners. At your shop the cars are 10 times more valuable and typically under construction or revision for a duration much longer than mine so I'm not sure if your policy would cover them or not.
