So another idea are the rocker bolts also one time use? Could they be stretched? Not allowing it to tighten all the way

This engine was not running when it was in a fire. It's a GM crate engine. Was ordered for him to use in a 1960 Chevy. Thinking I'm gunna change out the lifters , push rods, Trunion kit

The inside of the engine when I had it off looked brand new. I'll take pics tomorrow

Have you pulled the rockers and checked where the rocker seats on the head?

Pulled pushrod to see if it's bent?

In the photo that rocker arm looks bent to me. Could be the angle of the photo.

I suspect this engine was cranked with water in those cylinders.

The rockers and push rods aren't bent the engine was never turned over with water in it

The rocker is not fulled seated in the rocker stand or the rocker stand is damaged.

I'm not sure how that could possibly happen if the bolt is still tight. The stand is what keeps everything in alignment...

If you decide you are going to replace the valve train, I have the components I just removed from mine that I plan to list for sale soon. Lifters, trays, LS3 rockers with trunion upgrades. If you're interested, drop me a PM.
