could you tell me how you were able to control the dual fan setup with the gpmm harness? what else is needed to make this happen? It seems like the blue wire coming from the gpmm fuse box is labled fan but I'm not sure where to go from there

It was a busy week at SEMA and OUSCI. I wasn't really planning on doing OUSCI this year but I got a last minute invite and decided to go.

I didn't do that well and that has a lot to do with not practicing all summer. Doing AutoX once a year does not keep your skills up. It also does not help I don't like it....LOL.

Over all I was happy how well my JA 2.0 did.

Below is an overlay of Hellfire best lap and JA 2.0 best lap. JA was 2 seconds a lap faster than Hellfire. I know JA can go faster because my "best" lap was without power steering and a small amount of smoke coming up through the shifter boot. So with power steering and not worrying if the car was going to burst into flames I think it had another 2 seconds in it.

The experiment on cooling is a 100 % success. It was a bit cool on Sunday but the car came off the track with the water at 196 F and the oil at 217 F (I may need to go to a higher thermostat on the oil)

I had a lot of questions on what I'm building next. Right now I'm going to finish my shop. I have been building cars for OUSCI for 7 years now and I need a break.

OUSCI was SEMA cars that can go to the track and now it is Track cars that can go to SEMA. I'm glad the OUSCI has grown and gotten new people in it. But, like I said a few times, a true vintage car will have a tough time against late model vehicles. JA 2.0 is a great (Original Sheet Metal) 69 Camaro that has been on 4 Power Tours and I put 1700 street miles on it this summer. I don't want to gut it and cut it all up to try to outrun an EVO, C-5 Corvette or a GTR. If I want a track car I'll build a track car.

The highest finishing "Muscle" car was Mike Dusold's very cool 67 Camaro. A tube frame, trans axle, Carbon Fiber, Twin Turbo, 2800 lb track car. I met Mike and he is a very cool smart guy. I love the car but I don't want to build or own a car like that right now.

It was great to see everyone and run the car a bit. Now it is time to put our toys away in Michigan and start plans for next year.

Glad you have fun and that JA 2.0 did so well, Mark. Very interesting to see it go faster than Hellfire given all the weight savings you had on Hellfire. Did you think it would be faster than Hellfire?

The BIG change is going from Rivals to Rival S tires. I think JA is making a tick more power but the corner exit speed is up a lot due to more grip and that is where most of the time is.

I've never used the GMPP harness stock. I think the blue wire just turns the fan on or off.

We reworked the system to do a Pulse Width Modified (PWM) fan. The ECM has a look up table on how hard the fan should run given engine coolant temp., A/C head pressure and Inlet air temp. Any of those 3 inputs determine the fan speed.

The old CTS-V used a twin fan set up and two relays. You could use the GMPP ECM for one fan and a discreet switch for the 2nd fan. Maybe one fan at 200 F and the 2nd fan at 210 F.

Great post as usual Mark!

I wish everyone could drive one of your last couple builds - Mayhem - Hellfire or Jackass 2.0..... THEN they'd finally understand the difference between what you're doing and what some of the competition at these events are driving.

Having driven Mayhem and Hellfire --- I didn't want to get out of either one of them.... I wanted to just keep driving to some Southern California beach.... or to New York City. They're smooth... powerful... comfortable... they don't rattle your brains out driving down the highway. A testament to the way they drive is that Charlie always has Shirley as shotgun! How many of you could get your wife to go on a 1500 mile trip with you if your car drove like a dump truck?

While I love my Mustang AT SPEED on the track -- I don't want to even drive it to the Pit gas pumps....it clunks, and chunks, and well.... it's an all out track car.

My respect level for you, and what you build, went to the moon (it was already over 200%) with 4 blocks of driving in stop and go traffic.
