Suffer not the Hating Trolls! I saw you at LS Fest as well, and the car made me smile REALLY big! I'm typically a blue oval guy, JADED was one of my favorite personal builds, and I have deep connections to the early Cougars ( insert joke here...) But ZedSled (78 Camaro) has been tons of fun for me, even though I do fall into the belly-butten crowd of predictability... ( I don't care.... ) however in my opinion, if you're keeping one on the street and out of the crusher and having fun with it.... you've satisfied your mission! If you're making heads turn and causing a caffuffle amongst the low-brow haters..... doubly so!!

Well done!

You know what they say, "Opinions are like............"

I don't really care what anyone thinks, I built my car for me, not to please a crowd of anal retentive turkeys. Love your build because it's different!

Haters gonna hate. Love it Andrew, patina is the new chrome. Needing you to work on those ET's though, I know there is an 11 sec. pass in there waiting to come out. 2 4bbls ish for the win. LOL

Thanks Ron. This little 5.3L only makes 325 rwhp. I don't think there is an 11 second pass in it...What I need to do is stick the 6.2L from the GTO in the Cougar and then put the 5.3L in the GTO and add a snail shaped muffler....LOL

Did Drag Week last year, there was a guy with 5.3 powered ChevyII with 2 snail shaped mufflers. Junk yard motor, over 100K on it, he said he didn't do anything but ARP rod bolts, and a cam. Car ran 8.50"s in the quarter, only lasted 3 venues before the big bang, but I was impressed. LS engines are amazing.

Well Andrew, good on ya. I hate to say but I think the comments were almost more entertaining to read than the article. It absolutely amazes me that folks get in a pinch over an engine swap. At the end of the day you have a car that's fun to drive, is quick enough, and can go to just about any event and not feel excluded. That car is just plain cool.

As far as swaps go, I have a thing for wagons. If I had the cash flow I'd get a late 80s/early 90s Olds full size Custom Cruiser wagon and slip a Duramax with 1000 ft lbs into it to tow my Olds G body Cutlass wagon (which came from the factory with a small block Chevy), to the track. For the puzzled look factor I'd make sure it had Oldsmobile's Diesel badges on the fenders and tailgate. After that the Turbo 3.8 Buick in a Chevette project would get started...

If it makes it run better or look cooler, all's fair in hot rodding. If that's not fair to some folks, well they really don't get what hot rodding is all about and need to go back to the garage to dust and polish their numbers matching restoration that never gets driven. What a waste of Detroit history that is...
