No, that's the right speed. I have a buddy that's OHP and he said that guy was clocked using radar. It was a 2011 Mustang with a gutted interior except for the drivers seat, supercharged with nitrous.

straight on coming or at angle when shot with radar? cars going that fast can be airborne very easy without lots of downforce.

The trooper was on the side of the road when the stand passed at 86 mph. The troopers Charger maxed out at 156, the sprang turned off his light at 185 and as he was pulling away he topped out at 208 before slowing down for the NW Hwy exit, so the radar was from behind.

Luckily a county sheriff just happened to be there in NW Hwy

Do people that write this stuff actually know anything about anything?

How do you turn off the lights AND brake lights?

Andrew

They probably meant that he shut off the tail lights so that it wouldn't come on when tbe driver hits the brakes.

It can be done by installing a switch that interrupts the power to the lights. A lot of the police cars here in Las Vegas are equipped that way.

The more I think about this the more it sounds like a tall tale to me. Everyone knows that all Mustangs will make an abrupt 90* turn and run into something at anytime without warning. The odds of one reaching over 200mph without this happening are on par with finding a Unicorn.

Back when Texas DPS used to run Mustangs I used to see a number of them in the auction yard that had been hit hard in the rear... I thought it was odd. I asked the guy that ran the place about it once and he said what was happening was that the troopers were driving them at high speed and they would catch a crosswind or go under a bridge and the car would suddenly swap ends and hit something. Yikes!
