Default Kudos to UMI Performance Suspension

With my '66 Chevelle, I had purchased UMI Performance tubular rear control arms years and years ago. In the front, I had SPC uppers but stock lowers.

The reason I had stock lowers was that my car is on air bags and required a flat plate where the coil spring would normally mount. When the shop installed my bags, the did a great job and welded a plate across the control arm where the coil spring pocket is to mount the bag. This worked flawlessly for about 12 years.

But I got the itch and wanted to have a better performing, and much better looking control arm down there than the stamped factory one. Especially since I don't run inner fenders.

I just happened to be chatting with Ryan over there at UMI and told him my dilemma. Instead of turning me away, he took on the challenge. I stripped the lower control arms off my Chevelle and mailed them back to them. A few follow up questions and a few weeks later, a box showed up on my doorstep.

Inside I found these custom made lower control arms made just for my air bagged Chevelle. Not only do they look 100 times better than the factory arms, they are stronger, lighter and provided a much more confident feeling drive. I installed them on the Chevelle and a few days later did 5,000 miles on Power Tour without a single issue! Even the super rough roads across i-10 in Texas proved no match for these arms.

I just wanted to give this quick shout-out to the guys at UMI for doing this! They don't make custom arms, but a little persuading on my end and they went above and beyond for me.

Here's some pictures of the finished custom lowers:

Tim that is a great looking piece and you know you could show a couple pics of them installed on the car.

Looks pretty awesome Tim.

That's cool that our products are Race Proven and now 5000 mile Power Tour proven.
