LSA Connect and cruise instructions state that the use of the alternator control is optional and then they toss in this warning:

NOTE: If you are using the Chevrolet Performance or production LSA generator DO NOT plug in the generator control wire into the generator. This will result in the generator defaulting to only an 8 volt output above 3000 RPM.

I think you will be better off using the alternator you have and wiring in the appropriate plug. Holley sells one if you are unsure what plug to get.
