Time to get the subframe back under the car. (11-23-19)

At this point I realized it might be a good idea to call a friend.

and just like that it was in.

and this would be Todd be attacked by my Dog.

Yes this is a real picture and Shadow normally lays in the car while I am working in the garage and apparently he felt the need to see what I was doing .

Called it a night.

Cont. ( Plan B or C at this point. )

Apparently when I asked everyone is a 4l60e trans case the same size as a 700R4 they were all wrong. As the trans need to go back at least 1.5" and guess what it is a little bit wider and really freaking close to my freshly painted trans tunnel.

Insert sad face here. :-(

So for now I am going rest the trans on my lift jack (that was a bitch to do by myself) and install the motor so I can get and idea of how far off it is.

Trans is shoved all the way back just to make it easier.

Here we go again.

Now I have to figure out how to get these together by myself while under the car.

Time to get creative.

If you have time please look up "spelunking" and that is what I had to do to get under the car which was on the lift. So starting at the back of the car I layed on the lift and slid under the rear quarter, then under the rear differential. The under the platform jack on the lift, in between the bottle jack on the stack of 2 x 12's and finally in between the engine hoist legs to muscle up the back of the motor to line up a couple bolts to mate the trans to the motor.

Once that was complete I honestly stayed there for a couple minutes to rest or was that I had no idea how I was going to get out. Not sure really but getting out was way harder then getting in.

I took this picture as I was shimming back out feet first up on the deck of my lift that was at least 12" off the ground.

Good news is the engine and trans are back in and I will have to make some new holes in the trans crossmember and off course have it powder coated again.

Sending these parts also.

Days later the parts are back. (12-14-20)

Looking back at my notes so I can pull out the correct hardware.

Still plugging along (01-04-20)

Redoing the factory shifter assembly and I need to thank Jay at Pro-Tek Powder Caoting in Joliet for doing such a great job on the base bracket that will never be seen.

So at some point I would love to talk with the guys at DSE and see if I can get the billet shifter they did in the Chevelle.

The ShiftWorks brackets going in.

I think this is the easiest thing I have done on this car to date.
