Give some serrious thought to the type of car. Durability is more important than speed. Miata's are tough little cars. Their weak point is the diff though. There is a fine balance to making them last and a lot of it centers on the motor and driving style.
A built motor such as those from Robello will do fine for the usual Spec-Miata sprint races. Probably not going to make a 25. Twisting the thing to 6800 also not a good idea for the motor and it also sends a big hit to the diff on every shift.
What type of car are you considering?
