While my son was home for Christmas leave, he talked about starting the build on the engine. So I had all the block work completed, and we started to set the crank and pistons. WE got 3 in, and the ring compressor stopped working correctly. He was disappointed to say the least.
After he left, I was able to get a new ring compressor and get the rest installed.
Then I hit issues. Started installing the cam, and #4 cam journal would not allow the cam to go in fully. So back apart and to the machine shop to fix that problem. Got it all back together, and realized the cam gear was wrong for my application. I'm changing the engine from a GEN III to a GEN IV. Then needed to also install the timing chain guide which required drilling the block. Mistakenly, drilled through the block, which is internal and not a problem, other than all the shavings going inside the engine. So, apart again to clean everything up, then reinstall everything.
At this point, the heads are on, and ready to be torqued. Will get that completed this week.
