I'm glad you have that model to play with because I would hate to see you try something really bold on your car and end up hating it and being forced to live with it. Maybe you should grab a few more toy models and paint them differently so that you can compare them side by side. I've done that on several projects myself.
Honestly, what you're describing here sounds drastically worse that what's on the model now. If anything, go smaller with that nose/hood stripe. It'll end up looking like the factory stripe but so what, they looked great. Sometimes "different" isn't always better. Graphics and paint schemes are much more difficult than a lot of people think, especially when you're trying to be boldly unique.
