Default Shifter Kart

Just curious if there are any Lateral-g members who are experienced karters.
I am going to buy a kart to use as practice and introduction into racing.
I have rented a Rotax 125 several times and can't wait to get in a shifter 125There is nothing like the performance of the shifter karts 0-100-0 in around 11 seconds and 2-3 g's in the turns. Anyways I see karting as a great tool to sharpen my skills before I take a race car, like Bad Penny (dreaming for now) on a track.

Yes, carting is a great way to hone the skills!!

You need to talk to Ron Mann, his son's carted at a National Level and did quite well! I believe he might be selling a shifter cart or two! Here's his contact info.

Default Karting

I have raced karts for years. I run a Birel and raced the super-can class. I just run local races including Mid-Ohio several times. It is great fun as you know!

There isn't alot to compare between a kart and a full size car. But any time on a track or in some fast vehicle will help you for sure!! I've driven a shifter a couple of times and it was definetly fun , the biggest problem for me was holding on to the wheel (shattered my thump in a bike accident). You really need to take it easy when you go out in the big car , the kart will give you the alot of confidence that could get you in trouble fast!! Good Luck!!!! Have fun!!!!

I have raced many things from Spec Miatas to 600hp full size cars and Shifter Karts are the most fun I have ever had!

Thanks for the input and information.
I recently launched my new corperation, Muscle Car Touring Inc.and I big plans. Not so much as a race car driver but I am in the process of creating the Muscle Car Experience... I am currently working with Ben Hermance on some renderings for a new website that Scott will be helping me with.
I was supposed to go to Skip Barber this weekend but that fell through, Karting is my immediate backup plan for Track practice. And I can't wait get back on the track.
For those in South Floridia I can get good deals on kart rentals form Race-Sport.net.

Take all the classes or schools you can they're great , I wouldn't waist your time on a nascar one although you might have fun doing it they won't teach you that much. Skip Barder will teach you alot about apexes and braking and that will be a BIG help!!! I would try for that one again. Keep us posted on your progress sounds like you got alot going on.
