Default Silver state

Got a call from Silver State Classic today. I had called to voice my opinion about normally aspirated cars being at a distinct disadvantage against the turbo and blower cars at the altitude they run the Big Red Challenge. My point was the blower and turbo cars could just jack their boost up and recover much of the performance they lost by being at high altitude. You would have to build a whole new motor to make the normally aspirated car get some of the power back..like a 15 or 16 to 1 motor. They discussed it with Baer and came back with a decision to let the unlimited class run nitrous. This is good news for guys like me with a marginally low compression ratio that allows us to run on pump gas. They will not run the 0-200-0 in May..They will run 0-100-0 though. They will also run a 1 mile acceleration run..no braking..run as fast as you can for 1 mile. The 0-200-0 will run in Sept.

so does an entrant need to be "Pre-qualified" to run "unlimited class" just as with the normal SSC race

Bob

Looked for you at WOW. Decent show, lot of Jewels and some turds. First One of the year and oh yeah, that dang 7000 cheerleader forum with bitchy moms and the Bronner Bro's Homey Hair show ALL at the same time. Oh yea and the cold rainy day. All in all it was excellent. Got to speak to George Barris...what a cool old guy.

They have a web site with lots of info..you can also call them like I did. I will be pre qualified because I will have already run at Maxton who has the same qualifications..same for Bonneville..and I guess Muroc too. I would recommend you contact them before just going out there..get a copy of their rule book..Silver State doesn't require a chute like Bonneville and Maxton do.

0-100-0 does not interest me..this would be good for an 1/8 mile drag race guy except for the braking..the other May event is just a 1 mile acceleration test, no braking..I'm not particularly excited about either of these..Sept event will have the 0-200-0 Big Red Challenge..this is what we were interested in. We will not be running the 90 mile Silver State event..I've got too much money in this car to risk it on that long of a race..too much bad stuff could and does happen..

cool guy that built some kind of butt ugly cars..a few like the Hirohota Merc were pretty, but most of that stuff was horribly ugly. He and Roth both did some hideous stuff. Hot Rodding has raised the bar a mile since that day. Their cars were not only ugly, but the quality of the work back then was terrible. I've bought and sold some of those early rods and they leave a whole lot to be desired. These young builders today are light years ahead of those big name guys from years gone by..Did you ever see the 54 Chev. that the old timers built on Monster Garage. Finished product was scary..redefined LEAD sled..

Default Video at Z2Z

We'll be at the Z2Z Challenge shooting video for our show, and I'd like to hook up with anyone who's going to be running that event (or any of the runs during that event) who plans on shooting in-car video. We'll be bringing our in-car rigs, but it would be cool to air tons of footage from a variety of different cars running in the various classes. Shoot me an email if you're going to go and are interested. Thanks!
