Goodguys decided to showcase the SMOTY and SROTY on Friday from 10am to 4pm this meant they would need to be in the area during that time and to have the SMOTY go through the AutoCross during that time. Goodguys decided to run the AutoCross just for Vendors and the SMOTY contendors. At Noon Goodguys decided to parade the SMOTY through the event and over to the AutoCross area for everyone to see and follow. Tech was done on the cars in the area. Some cars had no seat belts and one had loose wheel bearings. These items were all addressed and some cars could not run the coarse and were no longer eligible to compete.

The AutoCross time was from 9am to 4pm and if you were a SMOTY contender you had to run three laps. The laps were looked at by the judges for style points only and the fastest time did not matter. Before the final cars were going through the coarse the Nova of Troy's came over to tech and got inline to run the three laps. After the three laps the contenders could go back to the Pro's pick area or stay and run more laps to try and get the fast time to win a set of BFG tires. Roger Burman stayed and recieved the fast time with the 68 Camaro he built. The Nova that Troy built was over in the Pro's pick area after the AutoCross to receive the dot that showed he could compete on Saturday.

On Saturday the SROTY and SMOTY were once again seperated in the Pro's pick so everyone could see them together and there was no special parking allowed. All contestants had to be in the area by 10am and it was first come on the lineup. NO special treatment was given to anyone.

I think Goodguys did the best at making this fair, fun and interesting for all who were there to enjoy the weekend and a great show of the cars. The only thing that I can see that needs to be changed is that only the owner or builder can drive the car in the AutoCross so it remains fair for all.

For the first year with all this new stuff coming into play I would say it went pretty good and the best cars were part of the 27 cars that were involved right down to the end when the 5 top cars had to be picked.

I would hope that everyone builds cars to run the AutoCross and to be the best they can build like the 27 cars that showed up this year. Remember only one car is a winner!!!

I hope that this will clear up some of the discussions on this thread.

great point , only one car is a winner .

felcher, why not just stop doing goodguys shows, stop spending money with them and create your own show circuit? that way you could bend the rules so you won every show. that way you could be the man, which is apparently the only thing that strokes your ego. you go on to say your car is perfect, this that the other thing, has Mercedes carpet, but was built on such a budget you could not afford 1500 dollar custom headers? how in a 100k plus build do you not have the money for headers? (maybe you over charge for interior/paint)or is it your talent only lends you to bolting items on? but oh shiit i forgot your Mercedes carpet and paint should of won the show.
you might as well have your wife fight your battles she does a better job.
thats pretty funny posting a pic of someones car from sema, lol, you were digging deep for that one.
do you really want to go knocking someones work, are you sure your car/blaser is perfect? i don't think so, so slow down

what is this ?? Moparchat?
I left that site because of the hate and politics, now its popping up here
I'm kinda disappointing that people are slamming rides & people for the sake of a car show/trophy

on a side note its kinda like 1995 again where every car at a show is a camaro,
I would have liked to see more of a variety of cars make it to the 5, but I,m sure there was lots of killer and wild rides there.

Just for the record you guys are the one stating my car is so perfect and the best of the best and I thank you for that. I have never once stated that I have the best car out there nor should I have won. My only problem is the top 5 cars were not in the show regardles if they were mine or not. Fit and Finish was key and the cars we brought out were pretty straight.

I stated that I had to follow the rules and so should have everyone else. You guys just keep going and going on what I am and what I think and I appreciate all of your input.

You guys start some stuff up here and cant handle me postiing a picture of your car with gaps that are no where near close. That is something that should have been caught way before paint.

I dont have a problem with you or anyone else on this site and my post was not to start a fight with the people of lateral-g it was to get the facts out about how the show was run and how the rules were bent...... for some reason you guys decided that you needed to start in on me. Its ok I can take it

I did not realize we were in a battle I better go get her......

Not sure how it all got out of hand but that is the way it goes. I stated one thing that I did not like and got hammerd about it. I did not bag on anyones car nor talk down to any of them. I stated a few facts about the way the show went and now I am the bad guy. Enough is enough and I am sorry if I have offended anyone out there it was not the intention.
