I have the same problem, man I was getting frustrated...looks like im off to home depot...just cant figure out who's going to hold the block of wood

ha ha!!! that is hilarious, i put the video up for my wife to see, i told her i am going to need someone to hold the wood for me I was actually just using this technique for my ill fitting deck lid the other day, worked like a charm
