If it was my company I would want any defective piece with my name on it out of the public eye. If I can find another carbon cover I will use it or I hve a new set of plain tall aluminum covers I can put on if I get to the point where I can't stand looking at this cover.
Maybe he didn't feel your vehicle was high profile enough..

My Katech covers are so very sweet.. they can even be custom engraved (if you can't find CF ones)

Having done business with Charley (clill) and also purchased the Aluminator from him, I can say without hesitation he is honest and has great integrity. If he called me and said the part he bought from me was not right I wouldn't even question it.

Charley

I talked to Dave again today about the covers. He said exactly what you posted. They were sold before I came along and Dave is looking at the age of the covers. I think he was asking if you expected a warranty on a 5 year old part. I understand they werent used during that time. Its a hard call if I had sold them I would replace them but 5 years is hard to expect much as far as warranty from any company. Again I offered you a set at my cost. If you feel Dave owes you a set as he said just tell him so and he will send you a new set.

I guess I could buy a set and send them to you and Tyler @ ATS has offered to do that as well but I dont think that is fair to either of us but I have confidence in his product and I only know the latest configurations but I have been very happy with everything I have used from him.

I'll try to help you however I can.

How much are these things that, this guy has to think about giving you another set? What is it going to break his company? What do all valve covers have a shelf life of 5 yrs? Sorry for throwing my opinion around. It just seems for the money we spend on these cars when things go wrong these companys should say hey, I think my product should have lasted a little longer let me help you out with that. It's not like this is our last project and we won't be building anything anymore.

very cool of you John. I just wonder how it could be five years old, as I thought Stielow bought them for Charley when the car was there, which has been less than two years. No matter the time, as they had the issue at the start of Power Tour, where the car only had a handful of running miles on it. Just one of those deals, I can see both sides.

Well Jody I dont know for sure of thier age but I do know I have sold these covers over 3 years and I have never had a set with the logos on them. Dave said he hasnt done any with logos for 5 years or more. Maybe that is part of the confusion. As a third party I cannot say that the covers Mark bought werent sitting in a vendors inventory for most of the time since Dave made them. Dave is a reasonable guy I think this could be worked out between Charley and Dave and I would be glad to help however I can.

What's weird is that one valve cover is perfectly fine, yet the other is in really bad shape.

With that said, I love my Carbon Fiber valve covers.

Tonight is te first I have heard of them being a 5 year old part. All I know is they were brand new when they went on the Red Witch and one turned to crap right away. I'm a big boy and I can pay my own way but when something turns to junk right away ,there is something wrong. I'm sorry they have Carbon Components name on them because they probably got his company name some bad publicty while on Power Tour. I know, he told me he has his covers on many big name cars but for the life of me I can't see how he could stand to have his name on this cover for all to see. Thanks for those that have offered to help but it is not and should not be your problem. It shouldn't be my problem either. I think at this point I am annoyed enough I am going to keep running this cover for all to enjoy.
