I called SparcoUSA and asked how it worked. The shift knob is a slip fit and is held on with 3 set screws, then the bottom collar, the part that's not annodized in the picture, then slides up and covers the set screws.

I have an 03-04 cobra knob in my car. I like the way it looks the best of any i've seen so far.

I'm using the polished shift knob from Tremec:
