1969 was never like this, was it? Big block is back in special-edition Camaro SuperCoupe

Remember Baldwin-Motion, the New York Chevy dealer partnered with Motion Performance to take stock Camaros, Chevelles, Novas and Corvettes and build them into big block street supremacy from 1967 to 1974? Well now the big blocks are back.

Come the Specialty Equipment Market Association show this November, the re-founded Motion LLC will launch the Baldwin-Motion Camaro SuperCoupe, a tube-chassis monster the cost of which will scare even the captains of industry who might be able to afford it.

“It’s very expensive,” said Motion partner Marty Shorr. “It’s not a $100,000 car—it’s considerably more.”

While each of the 12 cars planned will be coach-built to customer specs, you can expect a 600-hp, 8.8-liter V8 with aluminum block and heads, steel crank, forged everything, as well as modern niceties like rack-and-pinion steering, Viper-based rear end, gigantic Baer brakes and a five-speed manual gearbox. As Shorr, ever the promoter, says, “It’s the real deal.”

Prices will be announced at SEMA.
